what if no water service during the home inspection?

I am buying the bank own house, but when the inspector told me , he 'd done the inspection with but no water on. what can I do ? I signed the contract and paid the money already.

  1. you have no idea if there are bursted pipes. ask seller to turn water on. and you will need inspector to come back.
  2. If it's FHA the lender can't close until the utilities are on and can be checked by the inspector. If the loan is conventional and you don't demand the utilities be turned on, then you take the risk that something could be wrong. It may cost you a few dollars to have the utilties turned on, but it's worth it to know if everything is functioning as it should. I'm surprised your inspector didn't tell you this.
  3. Call the water company up and ask them to turn the service on.
  4. You should check your contract. The standard contract usually allows you to back out depending on the results of your inspection, but I don't know what your bank's contract says.
