My rights as a renter in Boston regarding bedbugs? I live in a 3 story place in Dorchester, I rent one of the 12 rooms. Recently, we've noticed the presence of bedbugs. We spoke to the landlord and he sprayed several rooms with some sort of spray that he bought from the Home Depot. It's not working. I looked up stuff on google and the Boston Inspectional Services flyer I found says that proper extermination should include inspection by a qualified inspector. Can I make my landlord hire a qualified inspector? Who would pay?

What is the average cost of replacing the upper half of one bottom Pre Molar in Columbus, OH Area, 2008? I been fortunate with my teeth for over 70 years and have visited my dentist regular for checkup during this time. Most of my maintenance cost has been very insignificant. However, I broke off a pre molar in June 2008, and I immediately went to the dentist. Upon investigation he said that he would need to mill out a new upper section or crown. First the inspectional and a temporary cap. Four weeks later, I returned for the upper half setting and this took about 1 hour and twenty minutes. My total price was $800.00 I have no info about the cost of teeth rebuild/replacement. Can you tell me if this was a fair price. I left the office thinking if ONE partial replacement cost that much, I hope that I never need to replace all of them. Keep in mind, age 65 and over do not have med-care coverage for teeth. Bad Tenant Woes in Boston, MA? Boston Apr -Nov 2009. Tenants move in April. In July the tenants call inspectional services (never tell me, the landlord, of any issues with the unit). I received inspection report saying -the dryer vent disconnected and there is now mold in same area. The 1st day I receive the inspection report, I had the dryer repaired. 2 days after I get the Environmental Health (EHO) report, I try to expedite the remediation plan approval so that the work could be done ASAP (Start of Sept ). The Tenant delays EHO approval of plan, requests time to do environmental test, Starts withholding rent and says to expect a call from her lawyer. End September, I get a demand letter claim: $5.5k prop. damage + $500 medical + return of security and last + forgive rent withheld. Justification: constructive eviction. At Beginning of Oct , EHO approves original plan, I get to work on arrangements - tenant notified of 2nd attempt for remediation. She denies access and threatens to file an injunction. She provides a very questionable medical report for her 6-yr old son and says it’d be worse to do the work than to let the mold sit and now her lawyer threatens with lengthy eviction process or pay to settle. The tenant is responsible for conditions of unit, she’s trying to commit fraud, she provides selective pieces of info to lawyer, Section 8, Medical Clinic. Now a neighbor is offering to lie and say I knew (or should have known about) a mold –a 100% lie. I want to re-gain possession of my property; I want to minimize my financial loss and try to get back whatever I can. I’ve read Massachusetts case law, books on land lording, read horror stories on the internet….. It seems like there is a case her for breach of contract, fraud, liable/slander… I’m looking for even creative uses of the law to find some legal remedy! Any suggestions?

Who do i contact if I need someone to come inspect my apartment? My apartment building property manager doesn't seem to know what she is doing, and contacting corporate is not an option as they do not return my phone. I can't even begin to tell you all the problems that I have been having with getting things fixed around our apartments. My property manager always just yes even when she says no just to get people to shut up. I have called her and maitnence about the issues i am having with the apartment and no one is helping me at all. I just need to know who to contact from the city to come and inspect my apartment so they can give the property manager a warning/violation so they have to fix it. Do i call the city's Inspectional Services or the health service?

My condo was foreclosed 6/07 but had nowhere to go& didnt move till Oct. In Aug there was a Bldg sewage block. All of the raw sewage& feces from the entire building (3 apts above mine) were coming through my toilet& sinks. I alerted other members of the condo assoc immediately but they refused to accept responsibility b/c it was coming from my toilet. I was already financially devastated& didnt have$ to get it fixed. I was only trying to move out but couldnt even leave my apt without walking through feces. It literally flowed through my apt like a brook& out into the hallway. I had no choice but to pick it up with a wet-vac...I even caught it on video as proof that I couldnt use my own bathroom. This carried on 10 days (my stupidity for allowing it to) before I sent a legally threatening letter to the other condo owners as they ignored the prob& cont to shower, flush etc. I called Inspectional Svcs (Code Enf in Boston). Finally the Bldg called a drain specialist who not only fixed prob but confirmed that it was caused by a Bldng block& not my own plumbing. Can I sue now for neglig & pain/suff?

Does and ICE Official need a warrant to search? I own a shop in a city and a bunch of ICE officials and inspectional service department officials came and started searching my shop. I asked for a warrant or even a receipt but they didnt give me anything. They just took all my items that look like brand names but are not away. Does anyone know if this is legal or not and what i can do right now? They did not leave me a receipt or anything of that kind does anyone know what i can do to even approach this cause they took things that werent counterfeit at all.
